Focus and Scope
The Indian Journal of Open Learning (IJOL) was started in 1992 by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) to disseminate information about theory, practice and research in the field of open and distance learning including correspondence and multi-media education, educational technology and communication, independent and experiential learning and other innovative forms of education; and to provide a forum to researchers for debate across the world on these areas of concern with particular reference to India and other developing nations.

Peer Review Process
All contributions to the Journal shall under go blind peer review process.
All reviewers shall agree to confidentiality and sign the reviewer consent form.
All review reports should be as detailed as possible and preferably in the format of the Journal to expedite the editorial process.
Upon receipt of a manuscript for publication, the Chief Editor shall take a quick decision on the worth of the contribution and assign it to the Editor for undertaking the Peer Review Process.
Upon receipt of the review reports the Editor shall take decisions as follows:
Two definite accept recommendation: Report to Chief Editor for Acceptance
One definite accept and one reject/minor revision/major revision: Provide his/her comments and report to Chief Editor to take a final decision.
Two definitely reject: Send communication to the principal author, and report to Chief Editor.
A complete record of manuscript receipt, review dates, revisions, acceptance and publication to be maintained to track the publication process.
A complete record of the Review process should be kept for each submission with unique manuscript id.
The review process should be confidential, and in no case should be made public.
Publication Frequency
Published three times in a year in print, in January, May, and September. Delayed online version released on the Web for open access.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides delayed open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Subscription Information (Print)
The Indian Journal of Open Learning is published thrice a year (1998 onwards) in January, May and September. Copies of the Journal are sent to the subscribers by airmail to avoid delays. The annual subscription for the year 2009, which includes postage is as follows:

Books for review in the Indian Journal of Open Leanring may be sent to Dr. Sanjaya Mishra, Staff Training and Research Institute of Distance Education, Indira Gandhi National Open University, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi 110068. Books received are duly acknowledged, and upon publication of the review a copy of the Journal is sent to the Publisher for record.
