Teachers' Continuing Education : Shifting Focus on Distance Mode

Abstract


The paper gives brief description of targets to be achieved along with infrastructural facilities for teacher training in India, and a case for use of communication technologies to train a huge number of teachers in the schools. The recent experiments in the country have been analysed, and the effectiveness and usefulness of distance education/training have been explored, with a suggestion that inspite of its use in the recent past, its potentiality is yet to be fully exploited.
