Management Style in the ODB Universities: A Comparative Strady between BOU and BRAOU

Abstract: Open and Distance Learning (ODL) universities are performing acbvities ~n a mixed way of educational institutions and industrial concerns, In many cases, management styles of the ODL Universities are exercised by the academrcs from the conventional system. The attitude of the top-management in providing level of

 

flexibility to the distance learners, allowing participation of the concerned groups into its decision making process, incorporating integration system to manage interdependent activities, measuring and distributing workload, and maintaining schedule typically set the overall management style of the respective university. Such management style shapes the education and support services to be offered to the distance learners. This paper reports the results of an empirical research based study on the existing management style followed in Bangladesh Open University (BOU) of Bangladesh and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) of India. two pioneer ODL universities in respectwe countries, from the viewpoints of its human resources. Academic Exchange Fellowship Programme of BRAOU has opened up the scope of this research.
