Linguistic Plurality and Distance Education in India: A Perspective

Abstract


Abstract: An attempt is made in the paper to analyse the depth of multi-lingualism in India and how it is different to that of other nations where such scenario exists. The author has examined the impact of multi-lingualism on education in general and distance education in particular. In case of distance education, learning materials, are generally translated into various languages. The process of translation of print, audio-video material into various other languages and technicalities involved in the process has been dealt at length in the paper, with emphasis on language and style.
