Programme Evaluation Under Open Learning System: An Evaluation of CLD Programme of IGNOU
Abstract
Abstract:
Owing to absence of direct interaction between the teacher and the taught under distance education mode, the quality of the learning in terms of its presentation, language, content and illustration assumes vital importance. It is, therefore, desirable to periodically examine the worthiness of study material particularly in a situation when a programme is not keeping up to the expectations of either the students or of the providers or of both. The present study undertaken to evaluate the CLD programme of IGNOU revealed that the Programme has been highly effective and successful in terms of meetings its objectives laid down. The overall effectiveness of the programme measured in quantitative terms worked out at 4.09 at five-point scale. Thus, the success score of the programme in percentage terms was more than 80 per cent and the learners had substantially been benefited by pursuing this programme. The quality of the course material in terms of its language, style, content and structure as perceived by the learners was found to be 'very good'.
