Counselling in Distance Nursing Education - Perception of Learners, Counsellors and Programme Incharges

Abstract: This study reports an investigation into the perceptions of learners, counsellors and programme incharges regarding the counselling sessions for the B.Sc Nursing programme offered by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). Questionnaire responses were obtained from 201 learners, 85 counsellors and 13 programme incharges. The results indicated that the counselling and practical sessions were found useful. The learners further suggested that workshop method with longer duration may be used for counselling and practical sessions, and field experience and case studies may be included for practical sessions.
