Training Needs of B.Ed Academic Counsellors

Shyni Duggal

Abstract

Abstract:

Quality of academic counsellors is very vital for ensuring high level of interaction, particularly in a professional programme like teacher education. Distance education institutions depend for learner support on conventional peers, who may not necessarily be familiar with distance education methodologies and technologies. It is therefore, important to create opportunities for constant dialogue with academic counsellors. With this in view, a study was undertaken to identify the training needs of teacher-educators for B.Ed. programme. It was found that there was a wide gap between practices and what was intended to be done. There is a need, therefore, to organise continuous interaction between the faculty at the headquarters and the designated teachereducators in the field to evolve best practices and their implementation.
