Online Graduates and Job Market: A Case Study of BIT Programme of IGNOU

The objectives of this study were to identify the utility of degrees for the career path of online learners in terms of getting employment, promotion, continuing education and others, and to study the perception related variables on the acceptability of their degrees in the job market. The findings of the study are based on 37 sampled graduates. It was found that a majority of the respondents got job, continued further study and enhanced their skills despite facing the problem of non-acceptability at the initial stage. In other words, the focus of the paper was to know how the online graduates were accepted in the job market when the fresh graduates from the traditional (FZF) teaching as well as traditional distance education programmes are facing very steep competition to get employment.
