Abstract:

Majority of the universities are harvesting on technology for learning and teaching. With competitive open and distance learning environment ,,, operating worldwide, Open University Malaysia (OUM) has responded by offering a range of learning and teaching technology/media to support learning, besides providing the print modules. Some of these are: i-tutorial, ;-seminar, weblet, multimedia courseware, video, etc. Each of these learning technologies plays an important role in its own context and subscribes to suit to the different learning styles of the learners. Nevertheless, there is a pressing need for examining whether the learners are benefiting from these materials. This paper reports on the quality and issues related to the learning and teaching technolobies that concern both the tutors and learners. Four significant components have been identified: instructional design, pedagogical aspect, accessibility and suitability, which can pertinently minimise the predicament brought up by the learners and tutors.
