Abstract

To cater to different strata of learners who have heterogeneous learning style, open and distance education system has developed its own instructional process, which is quite different from the conventional education system. This study examines the representation of different delivery modes used in instructional processes and investigates which delivery modes are frequently used in distance education. The samples were taken from two major research journals of distance education at national and international level, i.e. one from India and one from USA. The study contributes towards better understanding of the current level of the use of different delivery modes in instructional processes in distance education. The analysis revealed that the representation of different delivery modes used in instructional activities in OLD system varied considerably as depicted in different journals.
