Learner Support Services in IGNOU during Covid-19 Pandemic

The article presents a brief overview of the structure and organization of leaner support services in IGNOU and highlights the transition of the University from the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode to the online mode during the COVID-19 pandemic period. The report focuses on the various types of learner support mechanisms adopted by the University using the online and digital platforms for continuance of studies of learners in the difficult COVID 19 situation. Technology-integrated interventions for continuance of teaching-learning process by the Regional Centres (RC) under the supervision of the Regional Services Division (RSD), are described in the paper. The paper elaborates some good practices and innovative approaches of the RCs through utilization of ICT-enabled tools, webbased technologies, social media platforms and mass media for effective and uninterrupted learner support and programme delivery.
